Journey Style Guided Group Journeys Pacific Coast Pacific Northwest Exploration : Journey Highlights

Get out your hiking boots! Your guide knows the best trails at Mt. Rainier and Mt. Hood, and at St. Helens, will lead you into the revegetating blast zone and along a trail with striking views of the crater and Spirit Lake. You’ll also explore the Columbia Gorge, a spectacular river canyon cutting through the Cascade Mountains, with orchards and vineyards dotting the hillsides. One of your highlights here includes hiking on unique trails that take you through forests of cedar and maple, past rushing waterfalls and basalt cliffs. A day of whitewater rafting on the wild Deschutes adds a final thrill to the journey.

  • Hiking: Enjoy a diverse and interesting set of hikes through a variety of terrains.
  • Rafting: Ride the whitewater of the Deschutes as the river drops and twists through steep canyons.
  • Historic park lodges: Stay at the venerable Paradise Inn and Timberline Lodge.
  • Columbia Gorge: The gorgeous gorge supports orchards and vineyards, and has the greatest concentration of waterfalls in the Pacific Northwest.

"The unique geography of the northwest, from the Pacific Rim of Fire to the mighty Columbia River, presents an ever-changing view—and ever-interesting opportunities to experience the nature and culture of this rich corner of the country." —Julianne Shuman, OBP Travel Expert
