A thousand years ago, Ancient Puebloans (Anasazi) built elaborate, highly engineered settlements and created rock art of human figures and the heavens. Explore the mystery on this adventurous journey which delves deeper into the story with each stop. Your trip back in time begins at Mesa Verde National Park, with some of the best-preserved cliff dwellings in the world. Next, far down the gravel road at Chaco Culture National Historical Park in New Mexico, you explore one of the nation’s richest and least developed archaeological sites. Then at Canyon de Chelly National Monument in Arizona, your Navajo guide shares traditional knowledge and insight on a fascinating day-long jeep excursion. Your last stop is Acoma Pueblo, a mesa-top community that has been occupied for more than 800 years. Other intriguing points of interest along the way on this journey include the Hubbell Trading Post National Monument and El Morro. The adventure culminates in Old Town Albuquerque, rich in Southwest character.
Your guide’s understanding and deep knowledge of these ancient Southwest civilizations bring the ruins and the history to vivid life. —Cory Lawrence, OBP CEO
