Trip Motif Hiking Walking Exploring Hawaiis National Parks : Journey Highlights

You feel it as soon as you step off the plane: Hawai‘i wrapping you in a flower-scented embrace of warm welcome. This active journey connects you with the many landscapes and landforms of Hawai‘i and some of Hawai‘i’s most special places, from lush rainforests to dramatic lava plains and historic cultural landmarks to beautiful white – and black – sand beaches. All told, you’ll explore six fascinating national parks and sites on three islands—the Big Island, Moloka‘i, and Maui— all the while investigating volcanoes, identifying plants, looking for sea turtles, and learning about ancient Hawaiian culture. You’ll retreat each evening to accommodations in enviable locations – on the rim of a volcanic crater, a stone’s throw to the beach in Kona, and on 27 acres of tropical gardens beside Ka‘anapali Beach, repeatedly rated as one of the most beautiful in the world. Leading the way are volcanologists, biologists, cultural specialists, naturalists, and park rangers. Daily outings have you hiking along volcanic and rainforest trails, swimming in crystal clear waters, snorkeling beside colorful creatures of the sea, and spending time with local Hawaiians at a private backyard lū‘au. Only one word can sum it all up. Aloha!
