Isle Royale is a rugged wilderness of forests, rocky ridges, and small lakes. Accessible only by boat or seaplane, the famous wolves and moose of Isle Royale probably walked there over winter ice. A three-hour ferry ride from Michiganís Upper Peninsula takes you to Isle Royale National Park, where you have two full days to explore on land and on lake. Youíll also have a chance to ask a scientist about the recently crashing wolf populations. Each day of this fabulous sojourn is filled with wild discovery and unique experiences! Start with a scenic drive along the rugged shoreline of Lake Superior en route to the Keweenaw Peninsula. Then itís on to the worldís largest freshwater lakes and the road-less wilderness island of Isle Royale National Park. Our time in this largely-undeveloped island archipelago is filled with visits to historic fishing camps and other outdoor excursions. Weíll then return to Michiganís storied Upper Peninsula to explore itís historical parks. Top-notch naturalists, some free time for optional activities, and a nice variety of lodges add a dynamic element to this one-of-a-kind trip to Isle Royale and the Great Lakes.
