This very active, very distinctive journey leads to granite massifs, vast glaciers, and
immense lakes, as well as to condor nests, lenga woods, a petrified forest, and a
private working estancia. Your experiences are truly extraordinary. Like donning
crampons to trek Viedma Glacier, and exploring the moonscape of La Leona
petrified forest, where bones of the colossal dinosaur Puertasaurus reuili have
been found. If you’re up for it, you can also hike a mountainside to a condor’s nest,
and ride horses with a gaucho.
You experience authentic estancia life as well, on a simple but gracious private sheep ranch with panoramic views of Mount FitzRoy and Cerro Torre. An unforgettable boat ride along the face of Perito Moreno Glacier ties the bow on this remarkable adventure. This journey offers evocative exploration at each destination – time with salt-of-the-earth locals and the opportunity to watch a condor work the thermals, listen to the rap of a woodpecker echo in the beech forest, and savor an alfajores pastry at the remote La Leona Roadhouse.
